Jangro.com: Won Best Blogger Award, Now I Guess I Have to Keep Blogging

  • Jim Kukral · 11 months ago
Congrats again Scott. Although, you did not get an award for not finishing your giant chicken fried steak at dinner.
  • sjangro · 11 months ago
Thanks Jim. I can't believe Shawn finished that beast. He's a better man than me.
  • StephARC · 11 months ago
Hey Scotty of course happy that you were the winner of the glass. First line of action is to get your name on the glass before you build your award shelf. You can do so easily by taping your aff sum name tag behind it. As for the snaps, I think back to Gary's keynote and how he said I am the wine guy, but I'm also the Jets guy and the Family guy. I think on your snaps you should show people other sides besides the Affiliate Marketing side. I'm sure either way you will continue to be the best blogger eva.
  • sjangro · 11 months ago
Great observation about what Gary said. Hey, you ARE one of my smart friends after all. :)
  • Shawn Collins · 11 months ago
Congrats Scott - it was very well deserved.

I hope the fancy cocktails from dinner last night helped you sleep on the plane.
  • sjangro · 11 months ago
Thank you sir. I slept like a baby, even wishing for a few more hours when they woke me up for landing.

Congratulation Scott, best of luck to your blogging development, and your blog is just superb and i hope and wish that your blog develops more and more
  • Rasmus · 11 months ago
Hey Scott, congrats on the award!
I think you deserve it as this is one of the better blogs on affiliate marketing. Most of the others out there seem to be pushing advertising and products so much that it dilutes their purpose. This one don't and the content of the posts is stellar.

    Keep it up! :)
  • sjangro · 11 months ago
Thanks Ras. I want to see you in Vegas next time. Vegas does too.
  • Football Fanatics · 11 months ago
Congrats on the Award. Very well deserved.
  • Scott Jangro · 11 months ago
Thank you Jason! Great to see you in Vegas. I hope the poker game becomes a tradition. That was great.
  • Pat Grady · 11 months ago
    Congratulations!!!

I'm not sure where you should go next. But I do know that wherever it is, I'll be there reading and enjoying it.
  • Scott Jangro · 11 months ago
Thanks Pat. I appreciate that. Great to see you as always.
  • Jonathan (Trust) · 11 months ago
    Congrats.

"I’d like to get that number up. But how? I don’t see that increasing by writing the same industry insider stuff, which I will continue to do."

I can tell you one major way and just one example, let's say social media as an example. For me, the major thing I look for is how can I actually use this or that for my business. Real, practical uses. If those connections are made, that number will go up. You have some good posts where you'll go thru something step by step, with pictures, so it's easy to understand. There was a recent thread at ABW about what blogs are good to read for affiliate marketing and I was posting about becoming bored with them since post just report news or comment on somebody else's blog etc and if it was more tips people could actually use to grow their business. Not the typical stuff you see on all those make money online blogs, even tho with them you might see some good tips as well. As an example, somebody twittered about helpareporter, which I think is great and actually can help my business.

But then I also realize that most affiliates don't have that much time to blog since they have businesses to run, work to do.

Also contistency helps with the numbers. Doesn't have to be every day but some blogs I used to read take weeks off, sometimes months, they rattle off 15 in one day type of deal.

And I had to make 2 post because:

    "Sorry
Your comment is a little too long. Try splitting it into multiple comments."

So get rid of this new commenting system as well :) Or if possible, make some adjustment to it.
  • Scott Jangro · 11 months ago
Thanks. And thanks for the suggestions. I tend to think along the same lines... practical stuff. I'm definitely not a regurgitate the news kind of guy.

As for time, I'm sorta committed to this thing, so I try to put time aside.

Sorry about long comment. I didn't know that. It is a third party service, I cannot make adjustments.

Congrats again Scott. This award was well deserved and long overdue. Great hanging with you in Vegas as always.

Just off the top of my head one way to increase your reach would be to interview some people not in your "normal" circle of friends and readers. Maybe that would draw in some of their followers. Who wouldn't want to be interviewed by the blogger of the year?
  • Brian Littleton · 11 months ago
    Scott,

I'll echo everyone's congratulations and as usual it was great to see you again and I'm glad I got to congratulate you in person. I think the most important reason why your blog (and anyone else who runs a great blog) is great is because you care about it - and you care about what you write.

So - that means that my advice to increasing readership/reach would simply be to just include more stuff that you care about - hopefully it will be that simple.

    ;) See ya in NYC.
  • Missy Barnstein · 11 months ago
Congrats Scott! I'm glad we got the chance to finally meet (again).
  • Pat Grady · 11 months ago
Joe's "Who wouldn't want to be interviewed by the blogger of the year?" is an outstanding point.

Start with other award winning bloggers.
  • Jim Banks · 11 months ago
I got to sit next to you at the Football Fanatics poker tourney, you could always give up blogging and become a poker pro.....

Kind of ironic you won this award at this stage of your blog. Keep blogging though, I would miss reading your posts.

Excellent News mate.. Keep posting the quality posts. I really enjoy reading your articles.
  • Saglik · 11 months ago
It’s very nice that you mention this subject. Your explanations are enough.
  • Angel Djambazov · 11 months ago
    Hey Scott,

Brian's right it is about passion and enjoying the creative part of the writing process. As a reader when you dive into a topic it is apparent both how whip smart you are and how thoughtful your analysis is but it is passion you display on topics you are vested in is very apparent.

As long as you give yourself room to enjoy the writing process yourself we will keep coming back to read the results of that creativity and insight.
  • Todd Crawford · 11 months ago
Glad you finally won - overdue and well deserved!
  • Ted | Cheap posters · 10 months ago
Congrats! Your blog is actually just one of five blogs I really actually do read. That got to be something...

Hope this doesn't increase the pressure... hehe. But I do hope you continue the blogging.
    -Cheers
