Reader Question: Samsung DLP HLN5065W: Screen shifted during a repair

I used the instructions to replace the color wheel from this site, thanks. It took me about an hour and a half to complete the repair only because I took a lot more things apart before I found these color wheel replacement instructions.

  • Hi.

This problem never happened to me in the few times I've performed this operation, but I have seen others mention it.

It sounds to me like a physical problem. If everything else remains the same, then the alignment shouldn't change with the replacement of a color wheel. The color wheel has nothing to do with the angle of projection.

The first thing that I'd check is to make sure everything is securely back in it's place. Maybe the chassis is a little askew, or a screw isn't tightened all the way?

Also look at the projector lens and make sure it isn't being obstructed at all by the foam sheath.

Finally, some people have made mention in the colorwheel replacement thread that some mirrors came loose. Check out the color wheel thread for talks of that. Search for "mirror" on the page to see what they said and did.

    Good luck!
  • I have the same problem did you find an answer
  • i have the same problem but my color is off and everybody looks like smurfs
  • Hey Chuck,
Did you ever fix the screen shift problem? Mine has done the same and I need to correct the problem. Any information would be helpful. Thanks,

  • I am using the instructions from this site to replace the color wheel in my Samsung DLP HLN5065. Instructions are great, however I have hit a snag. While trying to remove the white and blue cable coming from the color wheel I broke the connector in the socket; and while trying remove pieces the cable connector the CN socket snapped off and fell down into unit.

Any thoughts on how I should proceed? There is a second socket beneath the socket that broke, is this possibly and alternate?
